| I was in the army at the time but didnt go. Had a few mates who went with 29 commando and some from 4th regiment.Had one mate who was on the sheffield when it got hit. He gets flashbacks still. He was there as air defence and feels guilty that they couldnt hit all of the planes. After it was over one of my bty went there to work in the cook house. He ended up married to an islander and is still there today. Shame the lads out in afghanistan dont get the heroes welcome the falklands boys did. In the paper this week that one lad home on sick leave was refused a room in a hotel as they dont like service personnel. He just wanted to visit a mate in hospital who had also been wounded. Really makes my blood boil to be honest. Next timed the army stand in for the fire brigade it would be nice to see that buissness burn, they would want the army soon enough then.... |
