| Barrancos are just ravines or valleys carved in the softer lava over the centuries by water runoff. They perform the same purpose as river beds but in the south of Tenerife are dry most of the time.
If you have the opportunity either the walk up the Barranco del Infierno to the waterfall at the top or a walk down the Barranco de Masca (if it has re-opened after the fire) you will see some fantastic lava formations. __________________
